friday morning home depot shopping. apparently it was "contractors day". we didn't really know what that meant except that we got to pose in front of an awesome race car that said: sheetrock. oh, and we got free shirts. we're total pros now...
we're babysitting for galen's friends: rooster, turkey 1 and turkey 2. maybe more like foster parents since they may be more long term.
sheetrocking the funny alcove in the bedroom.

breakfast saturday morning. yummy plums from one of our eight (as counted so far...still have another 1/2 acre to scour) plum trees.

front bedroom primed and ready for painting.

proof that i don't just take photos all day.
sunday, we primed the bathroom and living room. galen said that it looked like a clown had painted all of the rooms. goodbye yellow and orange living room! goodbye nasty lime green bathroom! everything looks so much cleaner now.

picking paint colors:

quick break to swoon at the beautiful northern california light in our kitchen (note the brady-bunch style saloon doors).
on to the next job. curt's friend lent us a paint sprayer for the bedroom ceilings.
up until last night, i wasn't sure the exposed ceilings were the way to go for our bedroom. i'm beyond convinced now. it's amazing. i can't believe how gorgeous our bedroom is going to be. it's like a giant barn in there. complete hidden treasure...i got the back-flip feeling. i can't believe this is now this:

Great job! I lived in a cottage in Berkeley with exposed beams (and a couple of skylights). The only thing to plan for is extra heat in the room if your roof is not shaded-- easily remedied by skylights that open or good window flow. But what a transformation! I'm curious- what part of Oakland?

I love those hills- and so close to Redwood. We are renovating (so slowly) a spanish bungalow in the flats near Mills (lower Maxwell park). Good to know that other people are toiling away on the weekends :)
