Ooh heaven is a place on earth They say in heaven love comes first We'll make heaven a place on earth Ooh heaven is a place on earthokay, I'm a big dork, everyone knows that, but that's what I've been humming round these parts lately. yeah, heaven is a place on earth...and it's called the cabinhouse! (dork dork dork). it's raining and pouring but we have a fireplace, baseboard and now we even have a dryer! actually, we've had a dryer since september (thanks lauren and keisho!), but this weekend we finally hooked it up. and in doing so, curt and i learned how to move a gas line. and how to call pg&e to relight all of the pilot lights and to double check our connections (thanks for the tip, ma!).

our local store (which we just found out has been there since 1946!!!) has the most amazing group of people who work there. we go in almost every weekend (sometimes more...) and they love to tease us about being their best customers. but we're totally mooching off of them. they are an amazing wealth of knowledge. seriously, if you're even thinking about doing any work on your place, make friends with your local store folk(ie. not home depot...). they've saved us so much money by teaching us how to do stuff on our own. Jose is our plumbing mentor, and here's Richard, the guy in the back. he knows a ton and this weekend we watched him make threads on the pipe we bought. cool....

i can't quite figure out how to explain the following photos, so i'll just put them up and let you be impressed (hehe...):
checking connections with diluted dish soap:
we found this piled up around the water heater. crushed ornaments and old christmas cards from the 80's....kinda creepy.
and now we can wash the clothes we work in...the cabinhouse just got a lot less stinky.

oh Shayna, I am so jealous. I just keep telling myself that there *will* come a day when I don't have to go to the laundromat anymore . . .
