this became our first official "ready the cabinhouse for the coming winter" weekend.
as of late, the majority of our projects haven't involved much construction and curt's been itching to build something again. hence the renting of a jackhammer:
and the retaining wall construction begins! not to be outdone by a boy, i tried my hand at the machine but i found shoveling the dirt to be much more enjoyable and so generously let curt absorb all of the vibrations...the wall is coming slowly, but we've got the first layers in. gravel underfoot and recycled wood from the old structure we knocked down.new tools:potting break:tomato break:we had to make a quick trip to home depot for some more wood and rebar. bet you wouldn't think that a zippy little honda civic would happily transport 10ft long rebar and 4x4's...you would be wrong. they fit easily along with an exhausted curt in the backseat.too big of a job and too huge of a learning curve to be finished in one weekend, but i think we've gotten over the hump and figured it out....we'll see what next weekend brings...oh, and we finally put up the last curtains in the living room!
