We all have ants. I think my friend Erika once said that the whole of oakland and Berkely was built on a giant ant hill and it sounded about right to me. I notice the ones we have now are protein ants. As long as there is no protein left in kitchen (eggs, meat, chicken though they don't like fish, shrimp yes) they won't come in the house. Just make sure to take protein trash out every night and wipe down counters and dishes with protein on them.

hi! i've tried vinegar on ants and it seems to work - mix vinegar with some water and wipe down their trail and anywhere else you don't want them to go - it might take a day or 2 but they will go away. i also put some in a spray bottle and sprayed around our doors - they seemed to be walking in our back door! i do this once every year at the same time and its been working for about 3 or 4 years. goodluck!!!
