what's been going on round the cabinhouse? we spent another weekend with the shredder. this time, thankfully, it mostly worked. it died in the last 1/2 hour and we ended up with a small pile of leftovers, but nothing too overwhelming.

we took down one side of the rusty fence that was blocking access to the canyon. i'll take some photos, haven't had any reason to show off that part of the yard, thus far.

we spent this last weekend in the insane heat, working towards finishing the nature trail and building a puzzle table. it's built, but my lazy behind hasn't finished painting it. more on that later.

and i got a tummyache from bob-doggin' all of the carrots i pulled from our happy little veggie garden...
i promise more interesting photos next round. we have 2 very exciting visitors coming up for the weekend and i'm sure there will be much to document...

oh, i almost forgot. highlight of last weekend (well, one of many...) dave franklin trying to catch the baby possum (with curt's goading) in our backyard. boys aren't always the brightest, but they're definitely lovable...

this was supposed to be the weekend of tree shredding, round 2. ha. the wood chipper ended up busting after about 1/2 hour. it happened last time, too. but last time we got a good 8 hours of work. bummer.
so curt got busy with the telescoping chainsaw and cut down some threatening looking acacia trees. they grow at speeds incomprehensible to the average brain and look like dinosaur necks. unbelievable. they're pretty, but too wobbly for us to sleep soundly at night.

friend jay peter coyote (dressed as jacques cousteau) came over and finished up the work he didn't complete in his 4-day trek to the death lodge by taking it out on the trees.

took a break from housework to celebrate someone's birthday (hint: not mine)...
but all hell breaks loose this weekend with episode #2 of "the shredder".
