someone suggested that maybe i should post something that wasn't boring. thanks, ma. this one's for you. posting has been hampered severely by the sudden and synchronized freak-outs by both home and work computers. they seem to be less hostile these days, so let's give it a try.
we've been busy working in the garden, building steps and then covering them up with piles of dirt. the dirt piling was more a circumstance of succumbing to overwhelming lack of desire to move said dirt from the staircase to the empty area up the next level. it kinda sucks. big-time.but after a while it's kinda nice to actually see the 12 stairs that you built, so we loaded up the wheelbarrow, set up a ramp and with curt pushing and me pulling with a rope from above, we dragged every last bit of dirt up. it took all day saturday and i don't even know how many trips we made.
ta da!
view from above:how it connects to other set of steps and plateau. we're so close to finishing the nature-trail near the house. eventually we'll extend it behind the studio up the hill and make a path going up the hill. but not now...
sunday we were supposed to rest but got too antsy, went and picked up some trailing rosemary for a ground cover and as lauren says, "a meyer lemon tree followed us home". but here's the nature-trail fruit picking rundown (as soon as the trees start to bear fruit...): start up the trail, pick some figs, then a lemon and a pear, continue to walk to the cherry tree, then snatch up some plums and on the way down grab a nectarine, an apricot, and maybe a persimmon if you feel like it. finish it all off with a juicy orange....not bad, eh?
