this was the big floor weekend. i thought i wouldn't have many exciting photos to show you as floors in various stages of polyurethane coats are not particularly thrilling if you're not the one doing the coating. but the photos are kind of fun anyway. here goes:

1. peeling back the paper; bare floors...kind of like christmas (or hannukah).

2. coat #1:
3. coat #2 or 3?
more coats to come. let me just say this, if you ever paint your floors with oil based polyurethane please please oh please stir the can. saves you a lot of heartache....(learning experience).

you may have noticed in the above photo that our very organized tool area has gone amok. here's more photos of what happens when your kitchen becomes a construction zone:
but there is some relief from the chaos. we took our first showers in our new home...i'm taking off the replace shower head from the to-do list. it's amazing. really great. some photos of the bathroom:need a light fixture for above the mirror and a small shelf for right below.
detail of the mirror. thanks to grammy and papa for the mirror. scored in a garage clean out. antique from a mexico trip, non?detail of my new most-favorite shower curtain ever:
and then we took a break to here:
and ate this (and much more not pictured):
saw these:
rode these:

and almost lost my shoe:
best summer ever!

Oh, I wish I had that stove. Mine is avacado green. Someone used oven cleaner on it and ruined the lining, I am just waiting for it to rust out.
